This will be his second appearance in the Asian Seniors after competing in the tournament in Damascus, Syria in December 2011.

Reyes, president of the Abu Dhabi Filipino Organization Chess Enthusiast (ADFORCE), is a fixture of many chess tournaments in the Middle East, particularly in Abu Dhabi, Iran and Oman.

The weeklong tournament in Tagaytay City offers direct Grandmaster title norms and outright International Master titles. It offers a total cash prize of $3,000 (P170,000).

The Asian Seniors is supported by Tagaytay Mayor Abraham "Bambol" Tolentino Jr., Cavite Vice Governor Athena Bryana Tolentino, and National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP) chairman and president Prospero "Butch" Pichay Jr.

Reyes' trip to the Asian Seniors is sponsored by his friend Alex Bautista, owner of Yourtime Watch Repair Services at Corinthian Plaza, Makati City. His other sponsors are Motoluci, a retail store selling mainly motorcycle helmets with branches in Imus, Las Piñas and Alabang and the famous Edelyn's Homemade Nuts of Minalin, Pampanga.
