Puerto Rican import Chris Ortiz sparked Blackwater's daring fourth-quarter surge as the Bossing shocked Phoenix, 103-96 in the 2023 Converge Pocket Tournament on Sunday, October 15 at the Gatorade Hoops Center in Mandaluyong.
Ortiz dropped 13 of his team-high 28 points while adding 14 rebounds as the Bossing outscored the Fuel Masters, 30-14 to secure their first win after dropping an 87-75 decision to Converge FiberXers on opening day last Friday.
It was a huge morale-boosting win for the Bossing, who came back from a 19-point deficit to beat the Fuel Masters.
Rey Suerte scored 15, while Troy Rosario and Rashawn McCarthy added 14 and 13 in a balanced scoring attack for coach Jeff Cariaso.
Athletic rookie Ricci Rivero led Phoenix with 28 points, while import Johnathan Williams added 20 and 14 rebounds.
Jason Perkins added 15 for Phoenix, which fell to 0-2 in the four-team pocket tournament that closes on Tuesday.
